Why plant  chard?  They say a picture is worth a thousand words. I agree.

The closer you look, the more beautiful they are.

As lovely in the flower border as they are in the vegetable garden, the only problem is deciding whether to eat them or look at them.

 Now is the time to start plants from seed for late summer planting. Chard thrives beautifully in the winter garden as long as the plants have gotten large enough before the coldest weather arrives.  I like to coordinate the colors with surrounding perennials and add them in groups of three wherever I can find the space.
